Egg and Chips, please
With the winter season coming to a close, 18 members set off for a cracking three-day photo shoot on Cracow, Poland Unspoiled by war damage, Cracow is a place to wine at the supermarket prices, dine in delicious local cuisine and sightsee - all of it easy on the pocket. Our hosts made us welcome wherever we were. Our second day was a sombre trip to Auschwitz, a place treated with great reverence by all who visit. It impact on us as a group was enormous, almost life changing. The lte afternoon was spent trying to explain to our driver that we were hungry - not easy, even in sign language. He eventually got us to the Castle at Skala, which was closed but did have a restaurant at the base of the cliff that opened especially to cater for us hungry travellers. The waitress, unfortunately, did not understand the egg part of "egg and chips" Extract from Central Somerset Gazzette, | ![]() |

What a Night The Andy Rouse evening at Strode Theatre was a great success, and a special thanks to Jacqui Price for all her behind the scenes work. The amazing pictures we saw were a testament to the skill you can attain if you have a love of your subject and the tenacity to chase every opportunity to get a good photograph. His Kingfisher photographs were so good you felt you were their watching. Andy not only entertained us with his photography but his wit and sense of humor made the evening seem far too short and I for one could have stayed all night. If you want more visit his website at www.andyrouse.co.uk or www.andyrouse.co.uk/blog.asp. Thanks to Andy and all his team and I am sure his new book on understanding RAW photography will be a inspiration to those who buy it. Thanks to members of the club who distributed posters and sold tickets, and thanks to all the staff at Strode Theatre. John Gould, Chairman | ![]() |
